THE NEW POST-2025 VISION OF ECONOMIC COOPERATIONORGANIZATION (ECO):FULFILLING ECO’S POTENTIAL IN THE NEXT DECADE

Abstract

The focus of this paper aims at presenting several contributions for the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), in reaching its deep, full and real potential in the coming decade ahead. The latter will find expression in its new post-2025 Vision document, currently in the formulation phase, planned to be finalized by the end of the year. This new Vision will design the future orientation of ECO in the next ten years ahead. In that respect, this paper offers the following topics to be evaluated and incorporated into the post-2025 Vision of ECO:
• Enhancing the ownership among member states,
• Promoting the visibility of the organization,
• Strengthening result-oriented strategies,
• Focusing on the core areas of economy/trade: ECO Trade Agreement (ECOTA),
• Engagement of private sector, youth and women.
