Annual data from 1992 to 2019 are used. The relationship between economic growth and electricity consumption variables is investigated using the cointegration test and Granger causality test. The results indicate the existence of a unidirectional causal relationship between economic growth (GDP) to electricity consumption (EC) and there is no long-run relationship between electricity consumption and economic growth in Turkmenistan. In this case,it is recommended to save energy and export electricity surplus.
